Browser Extension Privacy Policy

1Who this is for

The extension is for people who already have a Sam.ai account. Everything it does is on behalf of that account, using that account's own CRM data and plan.

2What the extension does

For the person you are viewing on a LinkedIn profile or in a Gmail conversation, the extension:

• shows company information and any available business contact details, such as a work email address and phone number, from Sam.ai's contact database; and
• if that person is already in your Sam.ai CRM, shows their activity timeline, sales stage, win probability and follow-ups.

Contact details are shown locked. They are revealed only when you choose to reveal them, which uses credits from your organisation's Sam.ai plan.

3What the extension reads, and when

On LinkedIn

When you open a profile at linkedin.com/in/ and open the Sam.ai panel, the extension reads the following information that is already visible on that page:

• First and last name
• Headline and job title
• Employer
• Location
• The address of the profile page
• The address of the profile photo

Nothing is read until you open the panel. If you browse LinkedIn with the extension installed and the panel closed, nothing is read and nothing is sent anywhere. While the panel is open, moving to another profile looks that person up automatically, so that the panel is showing the person you are actually viewing; closing the panel stops that.

In Gmail

When you open a conversation at mail.google.com, the extension reads the following from the message header only:

• The sender's display name
• The sender's email address
• The address of the sender's profile photo

This happens only while the Sam.ai panel is open, and it refreshes as you move between conversations so the panel shows whoever wrote the message in front of you. If you read your mail with the panel closed, nothing is read and nothing is sent anywhere.

4What the extension does not read

• The body of any email. It is not read, transmitted or stored.
• Your Gmail messages, labels, drafts or attachments.
• Your LinkedIn messages, connections, feed or notifications.
• Your browsing history, or any page other than the two sites named above.
• Anything on any other website.

The extension runs only on linkedin.com/in/ pages and mail.google.com/mail/u/ pages.

5Where the information goes

The information goes to your own Sam.ai account, and nowhere else.

The fields listed in section 3 are sent over HTTPS to https://go.sam.ai so that Sam.ai can:

• check whether the person is already in your CRM; and
• check whether Sam.ai's contact database holds business contact or company information for that person.

Information the extension reads from LinkedIn or Gmail is used only to carry out your lookup. It is not added to Sam.ai's shared contact database and is not made available to other Sam.ai customers.

We do not sell your data, and we do not transfer it to third parties. No third party receives it for its own purposes. The extension contains no analytics service, advertising network or tracking pixel. Your data is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

6Revealing contact details with credits

When Sam.ai's contact database holds details for the person you are viewing, the extension shows that they are available but keeps them hidden. When you click Reveal:

• the details are revealed to you;
• the number of credits shown in the panel is deducted from your organisation's Sam.ai plan; and
• the revealed details are saved to that contact in your Sam.ai account.

Nothing is revealed, and no credits are used, unless you click Reveal.

7Contact photos

When a person's profile photo is visible on the page, the extension sends the photo's address to your Sam.ai account. Sam.ai downloads the image once and keeps its own copy with that contact. This keeps the photo working later, because the original addresses are issued by LinkedIn and Google and stop working after a while.

In Gmail, the extension also loads the sender's photo from Google's image servers (googleusercontent.com) so it can be displayed in the panel.

The image is never sent anywhere except your own Sam.ai account.

8What is stored on your computer

The extension stores only two things on your computer:

Both are kept in the browser's extension storage on your computer. Neither is synced to your other devices.

9Signing in

Signing in opens a Sam.ai page in a window managed by your browser. You type your password into that Sam.ai page, so the extension never sees it. The extension receives only a sign-in token afterwards. No Google account permission is requested at any point.

11Data retention

The extension itself keeps nothing beyond the two items in section 8.

Lookups that you do not reveal or save are kept by Sam.ai only in server logs, for security and troubleshooting, and are deleted within 30 days.

Anything you choose to save or reveal, such as a contact, contact details, a note or a logged call, is stored in your Sam.ai account. It is governed by your organisation's retention settings and by the Sam.ai Privacy Policy.

12Security

All communication between the extension and Sam.ai uses HTTPS. Your sign-in token is stored only in your browser's local extension storage and is never synced or shared. Only your organisation's authorised users can access the data in your Sam.ai account.

13Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

Sam.ai's use of information received through this extension follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell user data. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose. We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

14Your choices

• You can remove the extension at any time from chrome://extensions. Its local storage is removed with it.
• You can sign out from the extension's settings page, which deletes the stored token without uninstalling the extension.
• Contact data you have already saved to Sam.ai is managed within Sam.ai.

15If your details appear in Sam.ai

Sam.ai holds business contact information about professionals, such as name, job title, employer, work email address and work phone number. This information comes from publicly available business sources and from data partners.

If you want to know what information Sam.ai holds about you, or want it corrected or removed, email cs@sam.ai. We will respond within 30 days. Once your details are removed, they will no longer be shown or available to reveal through the extension.

16Children

Sam.ai is a business product and is not directed at children.

17Changes

If the extension's behaviour changes, we will update this policy and the date at the top.
